Case Study: Kitchen Renovation
Our clients, busy professionals with teenage children, desired to transform their outdated kitchen into a family gathering space which suited the traditional style of their Arlington home. They preferred clean lines mixed with warm finishes and desired increased functionality throughout the space. The large center island, which follows the shape of the room, was high on their priority list. The clients enjoy hosting large gatherings with friends and family and requested that the one level island be the center focal point of the kitchen. This was achieved by its unique shape, a rubbed through black painted finish and the striking chandelier centered above. Two other requests were a beverage center, as well as a ‘command center’ for the busy family.

The beverage center, adjacent to the Dining Room, includes undercounter refrigeration, antique glass display cabinets and a wine rack. The ‘command center’ is complete with a pull out shredder, file drawer, and small drawers for keys and sunglasses. Behind two large doors are a mail sort area, telephone, and a handy charging station. Other features include cherry frameless cabinetry on the perimeter which reaches the tall ceilings with stacked doors, Millennium Cream granite countertops, porcelain tile backsplash with metal and glass accents and hardwood floors which blend seamlessly into the adjacent spaces.

The venting of the exterior blower at the ventilation hood was a challenge, as a steel beam was directly above, and the duct is cleverly routed through an adjacent cabinet into the clear floor framing above.
