The Fairfax County Solid Waste Management Program will host a document shredding event on Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Unity of Fairfax Church, located at 2854 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, Virginia.
Residents will be able to shred up to 5 medium-sized boxes of personal documents per household. Residents should remove all paper from binders and remove all paper clips, binder clips and rubber bands. All material collected is shred on-site by a private shredding company and then transported to a local recycling center. This service is intended for shredding documents of a personal or sensitive nature such as tax documents, medical or financial records.
Junk mail, newspapers, magazines and other forms of paper can be recycled through your normal recycling collection service. Information stored on film or computer discs will not be accepted at this event.
Complete details for these events and other recycling opportunities planned for 2010 can be found on the Fairfax County Solid Waste Management Program's web site at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/recycling, or by calling the Recycling InfoLine at 703-324-5052, TTY 711.
